The Los Angeles Lakers may end up being one of the most active teams over the offseason. The Lakers need a new coaching staff, have to make a decision on D'Angelo Russell, and try to re-sign LeBron James.

It's very likely that James will return to Los Angeles, so the focus will be on surrounding him and Anthony Davis with capable role players.

The free agency window opens on June 30th at 6 p.m. ET and the most recent development revealed that the Lakers are a team to watch for a pending veteran free-agent guard.

Lakers News: Los Angeles Will Have Interest in Tyus Jones

Jake Weinbach has reported the Lakers are a team to watch for guard Tyus Jones in free agency. The Orlando Magic, Philadelphia 76ers, Miami Heat, and the New Orleans Pelicans are other teams who will have interest in Jones.

Nothing is confirmed but it seems like Russell and the Lakers will go their separate ways this offseason.

That would leave a void at the starting point guard and Jones would be the perfect addition. Jones is a smooth floor general who plays at a good pace. He's able to create his own shot while being a smart facilitator.

During the 2023-24 season with the Washington Wizards, Jones started 66 games, averaging career-highs in points (12), assists (7.3), and 3-point percentage (41.4%). Another underrated positive in his game is that Jones doesn't turn the ball over.

This past season, he broke the NBA assist-to-turnover ratio (7.3:1). He was also the first player in NBA history to lead the league in assist-to-turnover ratio for five straight seasons.

If the Lakers are able to snag Jones, he would immediately improve their backcourt and allow LeBron James to rest on offense and not have to focus on orchestrating the offense on every possession.
