The Los Angeles Lakers are having a frustrating offseason. While the fanbase is desperately waiting for the front office to do something that signals that they want to be competitive next season, GM Rob Pelinka continues to stand pat.

The current Lakers roster is the exact same one that lost to the Nuggets in the first round of the playoffs last year, except for the additions of Dalton Knecht and Bronny James. Considering that LeBron James and Anthony Davis will be a year older, it's hard to argue that the Lakers are in a better spot now than they were last season.

While this is the general sentiment in Los Angeles, the Lakers continue to make roster moves that confuse the fans. On Wednesday, the team announced that they signed 6'9 wing Vincent Valerio-Bodon to an Exhibit 10 contract. Less than 24 hours later, they waived him.

Lakers News: Los Angeles Signs, Then Waives Vincent Valerio-Bodon

This likely means that the 23-year-old forward is headed to the G League. He already spent last season with the South Bay Lakers, appearing in 10 games and averaging 5.1 points, 2.8 rebounds, and 1.1 assists in 16.5 minutes per game. According to his official profile on NBA.com, he is a Hungarian native who played college basketball at TCU.

The initial Exhibit 10 contract that the Lakers gave him would have given Valerio-Bodon to compete for a roster spot or a two-way deal at training camp. However, the organization was clearly never planning on giving him that chance.

Releasing a player after signing him to an Exhibit 10 deal makes him eligible for a bonus if they play for the NBA team’s G League affiliate after being waived. That is likely what is happening here.

The Lakers are doing one of their G League players a favor here but it's time they get serious and make some moves that favor their fans.
