It’s always nice to be reminded that things can be worse, and Austin Reaves put that into perspective recently at a golf tournament.

As Reaves was about to tee off, one fan within earshot urged him to bring his talents to the Pistons.

It took Reaves less than two seconds to quip back “I’m not going to Detroit,” with a deadpan tone of voice.

We don’t blame you, Austin.

Reaves Could Be in LA for a Long Time

It’s no surprise that Reaves doesn’t have any interest in going to Detroit.

The Pistons are coming off an NBA-worst 14-68 campaign and it’s hard to find many reasons why someone would prefer to live in Detroit over LA.

And this isn't the first time that Reaves has shut down the idea of going to the Pistons. Reaves said on the 'All the Smoke' podcast that he had the chance to be drafted 42nd overall by Detroit in 2021, but passed on that in order to go to a team that was a better fit.

That couldn't have been a better decision, and shows that Reaves knows how important playing for the Lakers is to his success.

There’s no denying that playing in LA has helped elevate the stardom of Reaves, and he quickly became a fan favorite.

Reaves is coming off the best season of his three-year career, averaging 15.9 points on 48.6% shooting from the field with 5.5 assists and 4.3 rebounds per game.

Those are pretty impressive stats for a third-year player who is due to make just $13 million next season.

We have enough to worry about after Dan Hurley spurned the team for a return to UConn and LeBron James still deciding whether or not he should stay in LA.

It’s nice to know at least one person is committed to being a Laker right now.
