The Los Angeles Lakers have been heavily discussed over the past couple of weeks. That's what happens when you're looking to build a championship roster after a disappointing ending to the 2023-24 season.

In addition to that, they had to add a new head coach and find a way to re-sign LeBron James. General manager Rob Pelinka finally got some answers to those questions, with the biggest one being around James.

Lakers News: Lebron James Re-Signs on 2-Year Deal

Per ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski, the Lakers and LeBron James have agreed to terms on a two-year, $104 million max deal to return to Los Angeles. The deal includes a player option and a no-trade clause. James now joins Phoenix's Bradley Beal as the only two players in the NBA with no trade clauses.

This was a no-brainer for the Lakers. They were willing to give James any deal he wanted so he could return to the purple and gold.

The 39-year-old reportedly was willing to take a pay cut if the team was able to sign an impact player like Klay Thompson, James Harden, or Jonas Valanciunas, all of whom signed elsewhere.

With those guys gone, James is cashing in for the 2024-25 season and will likely enter free agency again next summer.

James is now heading into his seventh season in LA, as he looks to chase another title. Last season for the Lakers, he averaged 25.7 points, 7.3 rebounds, and 8.3 assists per game. In addition, he shot a career-best 41% from 3-point land.

Now Pelinka is tasked with building a stellar team around the superstar duo of James and Anthony Davis.
