The NBA world was rocked with some terrible news on June 12 when it was reported that the icon Jerry West passed away at the age of 86.

West was one of the pillars of the NBA and played such a prominent role for multiple different organizations in the league, including the Los Angeles Lakers.

After hearing of this devastating news, LeBron James went onto X (formerly Twitter) to bid farewell to the NBA legend.

James posted two different tweets expressing his love for West.

The first tweet stated, "Will truly miss our convos my dear friend! My thoughts and prayers goes out to your wonderful family! Forever love Jerry! Rest in Paradise my guy!"

He then followed that up by saying, "My mentor, My friend! Hopefully I continue to make you proud! You're already missed!"

James had great respect and love for the legend but that feeling was also reciprocated.

Back in 2022, West gave James his flowers as well.

"I greatly admire what he's accomplished. It's hard for me to believe that someone doesn't recognize his greatness. This guy does everything, he's a Swiss army knife. And he's competitive as hell. Frankly, I wish people would leave him alone," West said of James.

West had a very storied career as both a player and front-office executive. He won eight total titles but had six with the Lakers. West helped lead Los Angeles during the Showtime Era and was instrumental in building the dynasty with Kobe Bryant and Shaquille O'Neal.

As a player, West averaged 27 points, 5.8 rebounds, and 6.7 assists per game. In addition, he was a 14-time All-Star and 10-time First-Team All-NBA selection. To add to his already stacked resume, West was the only player in NBA history to win the NBA Finals MVP Award despite being on the losing team. In the loss to the Boston Celtics, West averaged 37.9 points per game.

West will certainly be missed all around the NBA.
