Sunday night’s playoff game between the Rams and Lions was the first time Matthew Stafford and Jared Goff faced off since both quarterbacks were traded for each other in 2021.

Stafford, who spent the first 12 years of his career with the Lions, played well against his former squad on Sunday and looks like he still can play for a few more years. Kelly Stafford, Matt’s wife, gave an update on the quarterback’s plans for next season and threw support behind the Lions.

Rams News: Matt Stafford To Stay With Rams Next Season

In a post on Instagram, Kelly Stafford said that she’s excited for next season for the Rams, and the veteran quarterback will be back next season.

Stafford did everything he could in Sunday night’s game against the Lions as he stood tall in the pocket and delivered the ball to his playmakers. The 35-year-old completed 25-of-36 passes for 367 yards and two touchdowns.

This season, the veteran signal-caller completed 62.6 percent of his passes for 3,965 yards, 24 touchdowns, and 11 interceptions.

Even though Stafford’s completion percentage noticeably dipped, it was still a solid bounce-back season for him after he only played in nine games last season due to injury. Stafford will make $31 million in 2024 after signing a four-year, $160 million contract extension with the Rams in 2022.

With Stafford coming back for another season, the Rams will be a contender in the NFC and NFC West as they have excellent players at the skill positions (Puka Nacua, Cooper Kupp, and Kyren Williams), who injected new life into this franchise after a rough 2022 season.
