While there was some concern about Matthew Stafford's contract status heading into training camp, Stafford and the team agreed to terms on a "contract adjustment" that would ensure he'll suit up and prepare with the team for the 2024 season.

The move certainly doesn't erase potential concerns around his contract and future, however. Some of that can be seen in his own comments about the situation, and some through his actions. Actions like listing his Hidden Hills, California home for sale.

According to Realtor.com, Stafford has listed the home for sale for $5.7 million just a couple years after buying it for $5 million in 2022.

Real estate transactions could obviously be unrelated to Stafford's situation with the Rams, but it's also worth noting that he originally listed house in Michigan for sale back in 2020 while petitioning to be traded by the Detroit Lions. So it's hard to completely ignore this new listing.

The listing also adds some color to his remarkably unexcited comments about his new contract situation:

"I’m happy to be where I am. I’m happy to be here. I’m happy to be playing."

Again, these comments aren't overly concerning in a vacuum, but they don't exactly sound like a guy who is thrilled with the outcome of his latest negotiations.

Stafford is under contract with. the Rams through 2026, and he carries a base salary of $31 million in 2024, $27 million in 2025 and $26 million in 2026. That includes $12 million of guaranteed money this year and $17 million in each of the next two.

The current deal, which makes Stafford the NFL's 12th-highest paid quarterback on a per-year basis, will have him hit unrestricted free agency at 39 years old. We've seen elite quarterbacks hang around into their 40s lately, so there may well be one more opportunity for Stafford to find a new team at that point.

In the meantime, Rams fans are going to be crossing their fingers and hoping the timing of this house listing is just a coincidence, and that Stafford is dialed in and ready to exceed expectations for a Rams team that are slight -102 underdogs to make the playoffs (compared to -122 to miss) this year, according to FanDuel Sportsbook.

And if you're hoping for a voyeuristic look at Stafford's house, which he bought from Drake back in 2022, unfortunately the listing doesn't include any interior shots. But Realtor.com cites the listing as describing it as "a light-filled property with fireplaces, high ceilings, and hardwood floors." The house is 3,645 square feet and is one of two that Stafford bought from Drake.
