The Los Angeles Rams went through significant changes in the offseason, especially on the defensive side of the ball. They lost Aaron Donald and brought in two prized rookies Braden Fiske and Jared Verse. They also revamped their safety room as they lost long-time starter Jordan Fuller and replaced him with Kamren Curl in free agency.

Fuller left to sign with the Carolina Panthers, reuniting him with Panthers defensive coordinator Ejiro Evero, who was the passing game coordinator for the Rams previously. The veteran safety, who was the Rams' sixth-round pick in the 2020 NFL Draft, was considered to be a major loss for the secondary. He was a huge part of the Super Bowl-winning team and one of the best defenders on the squad, after all.

Early returns out of Carolina, however, show that the Rams may have made the smart decision to move on from him.

In Week 1, the Panthers got completely obliterated by the New Orleans Saints, who put up 47 points. This was the biggest season-opener loss in Panthers history. Fuller was particularly disastrous in the game, giving up five receptions in five targets and allowing 116 yards. He gave up two touchdowns when targeted and missed a tackle, finishing the game with only two solo tackles. As a result, PFF gave him a team-worst 28 overall grade.

Receiving a team-worst grade when your team got completely blown out is not a good look for anyone. That is basically as bad of a game one can have in the NFL.

We know that Fuller is a better player than that. However, if he doesn't show that soon, he might quickly lose his starting job in Carolina.
