The Los Angeles Rams have finalized their initial 53-man roster before they open up the 2024 regular season against the Detroit Lions. However, the Rams are still changing their practice squad roster, which will be a revolving door throughout the season.

On Thursday, the Rams shockingly parted ways with one of their 2023 draft picks who they put on the practice squad after roster cutdown day.

Los Angeles announced that they released former sixth-round pick Zach Evans. Evans isn’t the only running back the Rams cut this week. They also released Boston Scott, who signed to the Pittsburgh Steelers’ practice squad.

The 23-year-old running back didn’t have an impressive preseason entering his second year in the NFL. Evans ran for 135 yards and two touchdowns on 42 carries. However, the former Ole Miss running back only averaged 3.2 yards per carry and had one catch for 24 yards.

In the Rams’ preseason finale against the Houston Texans, Evans had 45 yards on the ground and two scores on 14 carries.

Last season, the 5-foot-11 running back appeared in 10 games as a rookie. But Evans didn’t do much damage as he had 19 yards on nine carries. That said, Evans is still young in his career and could land multiple tryouts throughout the regular season.

As for the Rams, they will roll with Kyren Williams, rookie Blake Corum, Ronnie Rivers, and rookie Cody Schrader entering Week 1 of the season. Schrader was claimed off waivers on Wednesday from the San Francisco 49ers
