The Los Angeles Rams are rolling into Week 2 with a 0-1 record. In Week 1, they went on the road and fell to the Detroit Lions 26-20 in overtime.

It's a long season that is 18 weeks long and there is a lot of football left to be played but the Rams were hit with the injury bug in Week 1. They already placed receiver Puka Nucua on IR with a sprained PCL but now another starter is going to miss time due to a knee injury.

Rams News: Steve Avila Was Placed on IR

According to Jordan Schultz, guard Sam Avila suffered a sprained MCL and will miss four-to-six weeks now. The Rams decided to play him on IR, meaning he'll miss at least four weeks.

That isn't an ideal start for the Rams with both Nucua and Avila now sidelined for the foreseeable future.

Avila was selected in the second round of the 2023 NFL Draft by the Rams and stepped in immediately for them along the interior.

Last season, he started in all 17 games, logging 1,147 offensive snaps with two sacks allowed. The 24-year-old moves well in open space and excels at climbing to the second level as a run blocker.

Los Angeles also has Darious Williams (hamstring) and Tyler Higbee (knee) on IR, testing their depth early on in the 2024 season.

How they respond will be very telling but head coach Sean McVay has built the reputation of having his guys ready to roll on gameday. I expect the Rams to weather the storm, in part to the trio of Matthew Stafford, Cooper Kupp, and McVay at the helm.
