Rams Making Big Starting QB Change in Week 18
By Joe Summers
The Rams officially announced their plans at the QB position on Wednesday for Week 18 against the 49ers.
Los Angeles could wind up as the No. 6 or No. 7 seed, depending on the results of this week's games, but the organization opted to rest Matthew Stafford and will start Carson Wentz in his place.
It feels likely Stafford won't be the only key contributor sitting, as the team is focused on making a deep playoff run.
Rams News: Carson Wentz to Start at QB in Week 18
Stafford will end his 2023 regular season having completed 62.6% of his passes for 3,965 yards with 24 TDs to 11 interceptions. He helped Puka Nacua become a league-wide sensation, reminding the world that Matthew Stafford is indeed one of the best QBs on the planet.
In his place will be Wentz making his first start of 2023. He last played for the Commanders, appearing in eight games and completing 62.3% of his passes for 1,755 yards, 11 TDs and eight interceptions.
It'll be an important game for Wentz as he tries to revitalize his NFL career. We saw Baker Mayfield enjoy a resurgence after spending time under Sean McVay with the Rams last year and now Wentz will get one more opportunity.
Should disaster strike and Stafford miss any time in the coming weeks, this experience will, hopefully, have Wentz well-prepared.
