The Los Angeles Rams came away from the 2024 NFL Draft with nice haul of young talent. That includes running back Blake Corum, who was selected with the No. 83 overall pick.

While fans are happy the Michigan standout has landed in L.A., it turns out that may not have happened in another timeline.

Recently on Rich Eisen's radio show (H/T The Rams Wire), Rams GM Les Snead broke down what the team was considering at 83. While Los Angeles wanted Corum, it was bracing to trade back for additional draft capital if he was off of the board.

Once he did fall to them, the decision was easy.

""But when we got to 83 and Blake was there, it was one of those things where just the human being and football player combined, just a unique individual who’s definitely going to help the Rams in many, many ways.”"

The draft is all about identifying players who fit your vision and trying to bring in as many of those guys as possible. L.A. was wise to keep its options open as it was closer to being on the clock while Corum continued to slip, and that ultimately paved the way for Snead to get a player he clearly coveted.

Corum's bruising running, plus his nose for the end zone, should help him make an immediate impact in the Rams' backfield. He provides the perfect complement to Kyren Williams, and can also help the reigning Pro Bowler avoid extra wear on his body by rotating in as needed.
