The Los Angeles Ramsare headed to Detroit on Sundayfor a rematch of their Wild Card Round game from last season's playoffs. The Lions, one of the biggest favorites in the NFC to start the season, will provide a tough challenge for the Rams, especially with their high-powered offense.

The Lions had a top-five offense last season with the devastating Jared Goff-Amon-Ra St. Brown combo and the David Montgomery-Jahmyr Gibbs duo in the backfield.

The challenge to slow down that offense just got much harder with the latest injury news out of Los Angeles. It was reported on Thursday that the Rams had to place cornerback Darious Williams on IR list, forcing him to miss the first four games of the season.

This is a major blow for the Rams on the defensive side of the ball. Williams has been dealing with a hamstring injury throughout training camp but head coach Sean McVay told reporters on Wednesday that he was making good progress. He didn't offer any indication that Williams would be placed on the injured reserve list.

The fact that his backup CB Cobie Durant is also dealing with a hamstring injury makes matters that much more complicated. The former fourth-round pick was a limited participant in latest practice and listed as questionable.

The Rams put Darious Williams on injured reserve with a hamstring issue. This is significant - backup Cobie Durant was also dealing with a hamstring.

The Rams already have cornerbacks Derion Kendrick and Tre Tomlinson on the injured reserve list to begin the season. Darious Williams' addition there forces McVay and new defensive coordinator Chris Shula's hands. The only two healthy corners on the team right now are Tre'Davious White and rookie Josh Wallace out of Michigan. We could potentially see a practice squad member elevated to the active roster or the Rams could make a move to bolster their cornerback depth.

OnFanDuel Sportsbook, the Rams are +180 underdogs against Detroit. With the latest injury news, they may find it hard to overcome those odds.
