Sean McVay Makes Massive Announcement on Coaching Future
The Los Angeles Rams' strong second-half performance has them headed to the playoffs once again under head coach Sean McVay. That will delay any significant conversations regarding the offseason, though with that period right around the corner, there's already been some outside discussion about McVay's future in LA.
The former Super Bowl champion previously flirting with retirement means that could be a possibility again in 2024. However, McVay has cleared up any questions regarding his future with a strong statement.
Rams Rumors: Sean McVay Makes Promise for 2024
On his "The Sean McVay Show" podcast, the Rams' head coach was informed he's only six wins away from setting the franchise record. Co-host J.B. Long hinted that it could be broken, if McVay returns for 2024. Long then asked if this show will continue for another year, and McVay responded, "that I can promise you" with a smile.
This seems to confirm McVay will be coaching in Los Angeles next season. After all, he has no reason to make any big statements on his future unless he's already locked in. Considering he believes his Rams-focused podcast isn't going away anytime soon, that speaks volumes about his commitment to his squad.
The 2023 campaign has been quite the bounce-back for McVay and Los Angeles following a 5-12 finish in 2022. This year could've ended with a similar fate if it wasn't for the team rallying down the stretch, which includes wins in six of their last seven outings to help lock up a playoff spot.
A deep playoff run doesn't seem to be required for McVay to want to return, though it could certainly help entrench him for years to come. We've seen squads that just happen to get hot at the right time go on to do some serious damage in past postseasons, which could set up LA to be a menace this playoffs.
With a Super Bowl winner in McVay leading the charge, anything is possible.
