The last few months have been exciting for two-way superstar Shohei Ohtani. Ohtani won his second AL MVP trophy after another stellar season with the Los Angeles Angels.

Then he signed a historic 10-year, $700 million contract with the Los Angeles Dodgers in free agency. Ohtani started his Dodgers’ career with a bang as he hit a home run in his Spring Training debut earlier this week against the Chicago White Sox.

The 29-year-old superstar is in the middle of a special time in his career. In addition to the on-the-field success, Ohtani is also making some news off the field.

The three-time All-Star announced on social media early Thursday morning that he’s married (h/t Bill Plunkett of the Orange County Register).

"To all my friends and fans throughout, I have an announcement to make," Ohtani said on Instagram. "Not only have I began a new chapter in my career with the Dodgers but I also have began a new life with someone from my Native country of Japan who is very special to me and I wanted everyone to know I am now married.”

“I am excited for what is to come and thank you for your support,” he added.

It is an exciting time for Ohtani, who will look forward to doing more great things on the field this season for the Dodgers.
