Stage Set for Rams' Reunion With Veteran After Release

It's almost that time of the offseason that gets fans the most excited about their teams: free agency. People are always pumped to see who their squad picks up and what moves they are making to improve the roster.
This offseason is a little different for the Rams, as they own 11 draft picks, including four picks in the first three rounds. But that is just a part of it as they are sitting on $40.8 million in salary cap space. That gives them the financial flexibility to make some meaningful additions.
Los Angeles needs some help in the secondary and a recent move in the league could spell good news for them. The Jacksonville Jaguars released cornerback Darious Williams on Mar. 5.
Jourdan Rodrigue of the Athletic believes Williams would be a nice fit for the Rams in a reunion for both sides.
Rams Rumors: CB Darious Williams Could Find His Way Back to LA
While a Darious Williams reunion makes a lot of sense for the Rams, $ plus age would be two factors they would certainly weigh together. Williams does have familiarity with scheme & staff (Aubrey Pleasant plus new DC Chris Shula), is a leader, and they are not settled at corner.

The Rams need to add more at the cornerback spot and Williams would be a nice option to consider. He played with the Rams from 2019-2021 and was a consistent defender for them.
Despite being 5'9, Williams has the ability to line up on the outside and hold his own out there. The UAB product has quick feet and good ball skills. Last season with the Jaguars, Williams finished with 53 total tackles, 19 pass deflections, and four interceptions.
Another nugget that makes this potential reunion fascinating is that Williams has good knowledge of the defensive scheme. Chris Shula is now the defensive coordinator and has been with the organization since 2017. Williams and Shula were together for three seasons and that is something that means more than fans even realize.
With the positional need for the Rams and a place of comfortability for Williams, this is a move that would make sense for both sides.
