The No. 1 overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, Caleb Williams is about to make his NFL debut on Sunday as his Chicago Bears take on the Tennessee Titans. All eyes will be on the 22-year-old sensation as he is considered one of the most complete signal-callers to come into the league in recent years.
Before he made the jump to the NFL, Williams was already a sensation in college football. His alma mater, USC recognized everything he has done for the program and announced the retirement of his jersey number, 13.
Caleb Williams' No. 13 Officially Retired By USC Football
The Trojans have retired the jersey number of all of their Heisman Trophy winners. Williams earned the honors in 2022, his first season there after he transferred from Oklahoma to reunite with coach Lincoln Riley. Williams was the eighth Heisman winner in USC history, joining an elite group that includes Mike Garrett, Charles White, Marcus Allen, Carson Palmer, Matt Leinart, and Reggie Bush.
Along with the Williams announcement, the USC also displayed Reggie Bush's No. 5 in the rafters. Bush's retired number was removed in 2010 after his Heisman was vacated. Once his trophy was reinstated and returned to him back in April, the Trojans recognized one of their all-time greats once again.
Williams will forever be remembered as one of the best Trojans of all time. In his 26 starts at USC, he amassed 8,170 passing yards, 72 touchdowns, and 10 interceptions, while adding 524 rushing yards, and 21 touchdowns on the ground.
