The Rams made a dramatic turnaround with their defensive front in 2024 and look like a playoff team, though there are still obvious improvements that need to be made on the roster to ensure long-term competitiveness.

One new suggestion from Bleacher Report suggests Los Angeles should sign Chiefs LB Nick Bolton in the offseason. He's won two Super Bowl rings with Kansas City and is among the best run-stopping linebackers in the league, filling a clear need for the Rams' defense.

Should the Chiefs choose not to sign him to a contract extension, Bolton makes a ton of sense for Sean McVay's squad.

Rams Should Sign Chiefs LB Nick Bolton in Offseason

Originally a second-round pick in the 2021 NFL Draft, Bolton quickly established himself as a physical, dominant presence. While he has flaws, there's a reason he's considered the vocal leader of the Chiefs' defense.

"Linebacker has been one of the defense's biggest weaknesses this season," Bleacher Report writes. "Additionally, Christian Rozeboom and Troy Reeder and impending free agents, so the position will likely be a priority this spring."

Considering that's the case, why wouldn't Les Snead try to acquire the 24-year-old standout?

"Bolton will probably be the top backer on the open market," Bleacher Report continues. "He's an impressive run defender who has racked up 441 total tackles and 31 TFL in his career heading into this weekend, including 89 and 10 in 2024. Also, he's been decent in coverage with 12 passes defended and doesn't turn 25 until March."

That's the kind of player an organization could pair with rookie Jared Verse to lay a promising foundation for the future. It's time for the Rams to start laying building blocks for the post-Matthew Stafford era. Loading up on promising defenders is a great place to start until you find your next stud quarterback, making Bolton an obvious target.

This all depends on whether or not Kansas City wants to offer a suitable contract extension. If they don't, Los Angeles could soon be Bolton's new home.
