Rams Make Huge Kyren Williams Announcement Ahead of Week 14 Clash With Bills

The Los Angeles Rams opened Week 14 with a major announcement about star running back Kyren Williams.

Despite the offseason buzz around a reduced role, Kyren Williams has been an absolute workhorse for the Los Angeles Rams again in 2024. He's 74 yards shy of his second straight 1,000-yard season, and he's averaging 77.2 yards on 18.6 carries per game. and has already scored 12 total touchdowns.

The Rams haven't had the success that fans were hoping for, but Williams' play has been a major bright spot. And now the third-year back has officially been nominated for a prestigious honor as we head into Week 14 of the season.

Rams News: Kyren Williams Named Walter Payton Man of the Year Nominee for 2024

The Rams announced on Thursday that Kyren Williams is their 2024 Walter Payton Man of the Year Award nominee. The award recognizes players for both their on-field and off-field contributions.

The team made the nomination a special event, bringing franchise legend Steven Jackson into the building to surprise the team, and Williams, with the nomination. Check out the video, and don't worry if you tear up — you're not the only one.

Williams' community contributions are too numerous to list entirely, but Rams.com provides a nice overview, including Williams' work as the captain of the United Way of Greater Los Angeles' WalkUnitedLA event and the fitting of custom wheelchairs, helmets, and jerseys for the LA Rams Wheelchair Football Team.

A St. Louis, Missouri native, Williams mentioned watching Steven Jackson play growing up, and that makes this moment a particularly special one. Growing up across the country also makes Williams' embracing of the Los Angeles community and becoming a local leader feel that much more special.

The Rams' only previous Walter Payton Man of the Year Award winner was Andrew Whitworth, who was honored in 2021 after earning four straight nominations. Other recent nominees for the team include Cooper Kupp (2023), Tremayne Anchrum Jr. (2022)
