Even though we are still a few days away from the start of free agency, the Los Angeles Rams already had a busy couple of weeks. While they agreed on a new deal with Matthew Stafford to keep him in LA for the foreseeable future, the uncertainty surrounding Cooper Kupp remains.
Many fans were expecting a completely revamped WR room in Los Angeles next season. With Cooper Kupp reportedly on the trade block and Demarcus Robinson and Tutu Atwell hitting free agency, the Rams were predicted to have a very different wideout rotation in 2025. It turns out GM Les Snead had different plans.

Rams News: Los Angeles Re-Signs Tutu Atwell
ESPN's Adam Schefter reported on Thursday that the Rams were re-signing Tutu Atwell to a one-year, $10 million deal. While this is a good deal for a talented WR who has shown intriguing flashes in his fourth year in Los Angeles, it is a relatively surprising development.
Rams fans were not expecting Atwell to return for a good reason. Throughout the 2024 campaign, the organization and the coaching staff didn't seem too high on Atwell. During Kupp and Puka Nacua's absence early in the season, Atwell made the most of his opportunity. In a four-game stretch between Week 3 and 7, he had 20 catches for 284 yards and helped the Rams offense stay afloat and go 2-2 in that span. He had three games over 70.0 PFF grade during that stretch.
When Nacua and Kupp returned, however, Atwell was once again forgotten and never saw more than three targets in a game until Week 18. After finishing the year as the WR4 behind Kupp, Nacua, and Robinson, he didn't seem to be in the long-term plans of the organization. Since he only signed a one-year deal, he still might not be. However, he may have an expanded role and an increased opportunity to establish himself as a starter in the revamped WR room in LA.
