Rams Have Perfect Trade Opportunity After Shocking NFL Firing
By Joe Summers
The Rams are fully focused on a Wild Card matchup with the Vikings, though it's never too soon to have some of the staff thinking about future upgrades now that the offseason has begun for more than half the league.
One potential trade target could suddenly be available after a surprise firing out of Tennessee. The Titans parted ways with general manager Ron Carthon after just two years that saw him impressively rebuild the team's barren assets. More moves could be coming considering the apart full rebuild on the horizon as its unlikely the new regime wants to keep the same back-end players.
However, former first-round WR Treylon Burks could an ideal low-cost, high-upside player for Los Angeles to pursue.
Rams Should Pursue Titans WR Treylon Burks in Offseason
The overmatched heir apparent to A.J. Brown's career has gotten off to a slow start. Through three years, he's been limited to 27 games, catching 53 passes for 699 yards and one TD. Injuries derailed each season but an 8.5% career drop rate didn't help matters.
That said, this is still a dynamic talent who is only 24 years old. He was a dominant physical force at Arkansas, posting 1,104 receiving yards and 11 TDs in his final campaign as a Razorback. The Titans have been an organizational mess since Burks was drafted, so perhaps he just needs a change of scenery.
Sean McVay is a master as getting the best out of his receivers and the Rams will have a need at the position. Cooper Kupp and Puka Nacua are under contract in 2025, but Demarcus Robinson, Tutu Atwell, and Tyler Johnson are all pending free agents. It's logical to assume that Los Angeles will keep a couple of those players, though they'll still need depth.
Burks is entering the final year of his deal. Considering Tennessee's dire need for draft capital, he could likely be had for a late-round selection, perhaps even a future seventh. If Burks doesn't have a future with the organization anyway, why wouldn't the Titans recoup whatever value they can?
It's rare for players with Burks' physical tools to become available at such a low cost. Should McVay believe he can develop the six-foot-two, 225 pound receiver, the Rams should at least make a phone call to open up negotiations.
