One Rams starter is likely to lose his job in the coming weeks, especially considering one major return from injury that's probable over the next couple of games.

TE Davis Allen hasn't been targeted in three consecutive weeks. While never thought of as a reliable option in the passing game, Allen still has the most snaps at the position since Week 6. That said, his lack of attention likely means Tyler Higbee will take the starting role once again once he returns from injury.

Higbee hasn't played yet this year but is expected back soon. Once he's on the field, Allen won't be.

It didn't ultimately prove to be an issue for Matthew Stafford or Los Angeles, who defeated the Saints 21-14 with a late TD to Puka Nacua.

The Rams are still firmly in the playoff hunt, so Higbee's return will provide a significant boost. During Allen's career, he's been more of a blocker than anything. A 2023 fifth-round pick by the organization, Allen has just 16 catches for 134 yards and one TD in his career.

Based on the usage from head coach Sean McVay, it's obvious that Allen was never intended to be used as a true pass-catcher. Once Higbee returns, Allen will likely still have a role.

Unfortunately for the young player, veteran Colby Parkinson took snap snaps late in the game as Allen struggled. Should that continue, Allen will certainly be on the chopping block once the offseason rolls around.
