The Los Angeles Rams have their attention on the NFL Scouting Combine as the top prospects in the upcoming draft are in Indianapolis.

They still have some things to hammer out on the roster, including Matthew Stafford and Cooper Kupp futures.

While that has the team's attention, the Rams recently gave guard Jonah Jackson permission to seek a trade.

On Thursday, Ian Rapoport reported that the Kansas City Chiefs plan to place the franchise tag on guard Trey Smith. Smith was slated to be the top free-agent guard available, but with the Chiefs not allowing that to happen, several teams will need to find backup options.

One team expected to have serious interest was the Chicago Bears, and they could be the perfect trade partner for Los Angeles.

Chicago Bears Could Be a Good Landing Spot for Jonah Jackson

Quarterback Caleb Williams was the most sacked quarterback in the league this past season (68). The Bears will look to bolster that unit in the first season under Ben Johnson.

A player like Jackson makes perfect sense for them. The Ohio State product signed a three-year, $51 million contract with the Rams last offseason, but Chicago could easily absorb that deal. Per Spotrac, they have the fourth-most cap space in the league at $78 million.

Jackson was limited to just four games in 2024 due to a bruised scapula. Before signing with the Rams, he spent four seasons with the Detroit Lions (2020-2023). He crossed paths with Johnson in Detroit, so there's an angle of familiarity there.

The Bears could use a player like Jackson. He moves with ease in the run game. His physicality is something that Chicago's offensive line needs going forward.

With Smith off the block, Jackson is one of the best players Chicago could pivot onto. This could be a deal that benefits both sides.
