The 2025 NFL offseason has led to several Los Angeles Rams departures, especially when it comes to the linebacker room.

The Rams were forced to say goodbye as LBs Michael Hoecht (Buffalo Bills), Christian Rozeboom (Carolina Panthers), Rashad Weaver (New York Jets), and Jake Hummel (Baltimore Ravens) left for new opportunities. The flurry of exits frustrated the fanbase as general manager Les Snead failed to sign any replacement linebackers in Week 1 of free agency, leaving time to tell if he'd wait until the draft to address the new holes.

Fortunately, the time for waiting is officially over now that help has arrived.

Rams Free Agency: L.A. Signs LB Nate Landman to 1-Year Contract

The Rams have announced that they've officially signed veteran LB Nate Landman to a one-year contract. The former Colorado Buffalo spent the last three seasons playing under Atlanta Falcons head coach Raheem Morris, who served as Sean McVay's defensive coordinator from 2021 to 2023.

It's going to be interesting to see how Landman fares with Morris' former employer. It isn't a secret that the Rams often know how to get the best out of their defenders, proven by Jared Verse and Braden Fiske's impressive 2024 rookie performances.

Landman joined the Falcons as an undrafted free agent in 2022 before seeing opportunities as a starter and backup player. The Zimbabwe-born LB made 23 starts in his 36 appearances with Atlanta, racking up 105 solo tackles, six forced fumbles, four broken-up passes, two sacks, and an interception along the way.

His ability to stop the run is likely one of the top reasons the Rams brought Landman to Los Angeles. He went from missing 13 tackles in 2023 to only seven last season, and his 73.9 Pro Football Focus run defense grade was the 44th-best mark among 189 linebackers in 2024.

Considering how his run defense grade sat at 85.4 in the previous season, L.A. fans have every right to be excited about Landman's addition — especially if he thrives under McVay & Co.'s guidance.

It won't be long before Los Angeles' newest defender gets to face his former team. The Falcons are already penciled in as one of the Rams' 2025 road opponents, meaning it's only a matter of time before fans find out exactly when the reunion will happen.

Landman taking his game to another level would go a long way in helping his new team capture its second of back-to-back division titles. For now, the Rams (+230) only trail the rival San Francisco 49ers (+125) when it comes to FanDuel Sportsbook's latest NFC West odds as free agency continues.
