Rams Veteran Playmaker Being Phased Out After Week 10 MNF Loss
The Los Angeles Rams had their three-game win streak put to an end in Week 10. The Miami Dolphins came into Los Angeles and beat the Rams 23-15.
The NFC West is extremely competitive, so every loss matters. All four teams have at least four wins with eight weeks left in the regular season.
While the Rams have turned the page on the loss and are focused on the New England Patriots, it appears they decided to phase out tight end Colby Parkinson against the Dolphins. He only played in 11 total snaps as Davis Allen led all tight ends with 56 snaps out of 70 plays.
Parkinson's snaps have gone down over the past couple of weeks, but now it looks like Allen has officially jumped him on the depth chart. Parkinson still has logged the most snaps at tight end in 2024 with 408 but something has changed.
That isn't what you want to see from the Stanford product, as he signed a three-year, $22.5 million extension this past March. The 25-year-old hasn't seen a target in the past two weeks and only has 17 receiving yards over his last three games.
Meanwhile, Allen had five receptions for 34 yards in the loss to the Dolphins. With the uptick in his production and lack of Parkinson's involvement in the game plan, it appears he will be a backup going forward.
That isn't what Los Angeles envisioned for Parkinson when they extended him this offseason but when your production takes a dip, so does your playing time.
