The Los Angeles Lakers already shocked the basketball world by trading for Luka Doncic over the weekend. The unexpected blockbuster that sent Anthony Davis to the Mavericks and brought in one of the best players in the NBA to Los Angeles is understandably having ripple effects.
The move has forced many to wonder whether LeBron James would be available via a trade. The Lakers will now build around Doncic, whose skill set is somewhat redundant with LeBron's. Considering the 15-year age gap between the two players, their timelines for title contention don't entirely match up either.
In fact, the Golden State Warriors have done more than just wonder about LeBron's availability.

Shocking LeBron James-Warriors Trade Rumor Emerges Ahead of Feb. 6 Deadline
Per NBA insider Jake Fischer, the Warriors have contacted the Lakers about trading for James.
One complicating factor about this possibility is LeBron James' no-trade clause. LeBron has to approve of any trade involving him and Fischer reported that "James has shown no indication that he is willing to waive his no-trade during this season".
At the same time, he has publicly revealed his desire to play with Steph Curry. Joining him in Golden State could potentially increase his chances at another ring before his retirement.
Trading James now would also set LA up well for the future. Instead of watching him hit free agency or retire in 1.5 seasons, the Lakers would get a boatload of draft picks and valuable role players. A trade package centered around Andrew Wiggins, Jonathan Kuminga, and first-round picks would help usher in the new era of Lakers basketball.
As shocking as this trade would be, it makes a ton of sense for both sides. Regardless of what the teams want, however, this will ultimately depend on LeBron James and where he wants to be in the dawn of his career.
