Video Shows Chiefs Admitting Uncalled Penalty Against Chargers
The Los Angeles Chargers are 8-5 on the season after they've dropped two of their last three games. Last week on Sunday Night Football, the Kansas City Chiefs beat the Chargers 19-17.
There are four weeks left in the regular season, but the Chargers are well-positioned to make the postseason. The loss to the Chiefs was tough, as Kansas City has won seven straight games over Los Angeles. In addition, Kansas City clinched the AFC West for the ninth straight year.
While the Chargers are getting ready to play against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Week 15, ESPN's Kris Rhim posted a video clip that will annoy Los Angeles fans even more.
Chargers News: Travis Kelce Commits Obvious Penalty
In a video posted on X, it shows Kansas City's Travis Kelce pushing off against safety Derwin James to create space.
Audio shows James yelling at the refs saying, "He pushed, come on ref."
Kelce then responded, "Hell yeah I did … you know my routes."
There was no flag thrown on the play, but it was a clear offensive pass interference. The Chiefs have the reputation of getting the benefit of the doubt from the referees. We all know refs can't see and won't call every penalty across a 60-minute game. That's easy to understand, but when clips like this emerge, it certainly will ruffle some feathers.
In a game that Los Angeles lost by two points, any missed call against the Chiefs was crucial. There were 15 total penalties called in this game, with 8-for-98 yards being against Kansas City.
Again, this one call wasn't going to change the entire trajectory of the game but it highlights a common theme around the Chiefs. The refs seem to hold their flags a bit more when it comes to them but that's what tends to happen when you're a back-to-back champion.
