Brandon Bass of the Los Angeles Lakers decided to go fishing Wednesday Night.

The Sacramento Kings could not contain him; all of his points were in the paint under the basket.

Bass was one of fiver players from the Lakers in double figures — he was the leading scorer with 18 points.

During this game, you could see all the players being more active, getting involved, and making plays with and for each other.

There are improvements, they are visible, and this is one of them.

I know I keep saying they are in the rebuilding process, however they do keep improving every game.

It may not be huge improvements, but they are improvements nonetheless.

In the previous game, they improved on passing the ball a little bit more.

Kobe Bryant continues to be the veteran leader on this team and teaching this young team.

He was one of the five players in double figures as well.

On the box score one of the statistics that stood out as a sore thumb were the turnovers.

The turnover ratio and points off the turnovers were awkward, because the Lakers won that battle.

They had less turnovers with more points off those turnovers by the Kings; which is awkward since they lost the game Wednesday Night.

I would have thought they would have won the game, because of that and their free throw percentage.

They were 80.6% from the charity line compared to their opponents 71.4%.

In games prior to this one, the player on the Lakers who headed to the stripe the most was Lou Williams.

He made his free throws and was on a hot streak for free throws attempted and made.

The whole team did good which lead to a higher percentage than the Kings.

Even their field goals attempted and made was in the average, good percentages especially for the Lakers.

They weren’t that far behind the Kings in this category.

More from LA Sports Hub

The Kings were a 48.3% from the field; while the Lakers did worse by a bakers dozen, which they were 35.6 percent from the field.

Then you wonder — why did they lose if they were making shots and free throws as their opponent was to.

They lost mainly because they could not execute their three point shooting.

They only shot 16% compared to the Kings’ 30%.

Let me remind you, talking percentages is different than talking the shots they made out of the shots they attempted, because the Lakers made 4 three pointers on an attempted 25 shots; while the Kings made 6 three pointers out of 20 attempted shots.

The most notable difference why the Lakers lost is because they could not stop their counterparts in transition or themselves score in transition.

They only had 7 fast break points while the Kings had 26 points.

This is a big gap and it makes a difference.
