NFL to LA: Raiders Looking To Get Out Of Oakland
By Keith Rivas
Per an LA Daily News report, the Raiders could look to move elsewhere thanks to the NFL to LA — particularly San Diego.
The landscape of professional football as we know it will have a very different feel to it as soon as next fall when the 2016-17 season begins.
When that kicks off, we know for certain that the Rams will be hailing from Los Angeles, bu there is still a lot to be decided when it comes to where the rest of California football will be.
Both the Chargers and Raiders haven’t left themselves out of relocation elsewhere just yet, and the decision from the Chargers front office might not come until the season begins to see how things play out for the Rams.
Should they move to Los Angeles and join the Rams, though, it appears as if the Raiders will look to get their hands on San Diego.
There’s also been reports that the Raiders secured land in San Antonio to try and usher in football interest in that region, but the likelihood of them moving to San Diego seems a lot more reasonable.
And a lot more awkward at the same time.
One of the best things about the results of NFL to LA so far is that the Rams moving back to Los Angeles feels like the right fit.
Yes, the way Stan Kroenke handled St. Louis on the back end might not have been the best of moves, but it happened — and the sports world is ready to move on.
Picturing the Raiders anywhere other than Oakland the Chargers anywhere other than San Diego, at least for the time being, just seems out of character for both franchises.
Oakland has become fitting for the Raiders and San Diego for the Chargers, but you could feel at times that St. Louis was not where the Rams needed to be.
And the league went with the latter.
Should the Chargers leave San Diego and the Raiders move in, it could change the way teams sell themselves to local markets completely.
It’s one thing to play in enemy territory, but to try and move in to claim it as your own might do so well when it comes to selling tickets, successful advertising, and making the team something the city and surrounding fans actually want.

With the move, the Raiders would also take with them the die-hard fans that they’ve had for decades.
Oakland’s fans have been known to be harsh at times, much like fans from Philadelphia, and the team must take into heavy consideration how that would play out.
Because them moving would have to be about more than just not wanting to stay in Oakland.
The Raiders have established a great young team that will see success in the next few seasons, so they can’t afford to mess this one up and cause a major distraction to a pivotal part in the team’s history.
