The Los Angeles Rams are already getting high praise from the media — but are they Super Bowl ready?

Recently on NFL Network, LaVar Arrington said one of the teams he views as being “a quarterback away” from competing for a Super-Bowl was the Los Angeles Rams.

He even said If Peyton Manning stays in the NFL for one more season that the Los Angeles Rams would be one of the best fits for him.

That’s a lot of praise for the 7-9 Los Angeles Rams, but does he have a point.

The Los Angeles Rams have a lot of young pieces to be excited about on defense, as they have one of the better defensive tackles in the NFL with second-year player Aaron Donald, who had 69 tackles and 11 sacks last season.

Defensive end Robert Quinn had an injury-plagued year, but when healthy his production is phenomenal and can’t be ignored .

At linebacker they have defensive leaders James Laurnaitis and Alec Ogletree who have led the Rams in the tackles the past two season and was off to a hot start with 42 tackles and 2 sacks in just four games.

The secondary features a lot of young core players whose all fourth year players or younger this includes corner backs Janoris Jenkins , Trumaine Johnson , and Lamarcus Joyner along with safeties Rodney McLeod and T.J. McDonald.

But three out of the five — Jenkins, Johnson, and Joyner — are all pending free agents this year.

Offensively, there’s not as much to be excited about, as Tavon Austin remains the Los Angeles Rams’ exciting, play- making receiver who had 1,191 in all-purpose yards who’s always a threat to score.

  • Kenny Britt was the Rams leading receiver in 2015, with 681 yards.

This comes along with rookie sensation and Pro Bowl-worthy running back Todd Gurley, who was also named offensive rookie of the year and ran for 1,106 yards and 10 touchdowns in just 13 games.

Besides that, there’s room for improvement at most positions offensively.

There is reason to feel this team have pieces to become a championship team but most of the Rams talent is on defensive and as we seen defense can win championships with a game manager quarterback but does the Rams have a 2015 Broncos defensive.

Can a much older Peyton Manning lead this Rams team to a championship?

Do the Rams have enough pieces?

Pending free agents that can hurt this defense with the corner back tandem Janoris Jenkins and Trumaine Johnson will have a lot to say on that matter.

A big part of the Broncos super bowl run was their “no fly-zone” style of secondary.

The Rams have an excellent secondary, but whether or not they can keep them all is the biggest question.

Bottom Line: It all starts with picking the right quarterback.

An offense that ranked last (32nd) in offensive yards will need more than just a quarterback.

Lacking a number one wide receiver and very few offense weapons , an offensive line that can use some help.

The Rams have talent and are close to becoming a contender but they need a few more pieces than a quarterback before we can say they are a championship team.

But there is a reason to feel the hype because with a good off-season and draft and if they find a quarterback than we can begin talking about the Rams being a Super Bowl caliber team.
