The Clippers and Golden State Warriors are in the early stages of developing the NBA’s next great rivalry. As Bleacher Report’s Adam Fromal points out, there’s good old-fashioned vitriol between these two teams.

And we get to watch them battle it out on Christmas Day on national television! It was exactly a year before that upcoming matchip when Blake Griffin accused the Warriors of playing ‘cowardly basketball’ after getting him ejected on two reactionary technical fouls. Earlier in the season, Bay Area News Group’s Marcus Thompson reported that the Clippers opted to hold their own chapel service.

The list of heated encounters goes on, though it only began in the new eras for both teams. Golden State will carry some extra motivation after the Clips knocked them out of the first round of the playoffs this past May. Not even Donald Sterling’s presence as a common enemy limited the contempt between these two franchises. Mark Jackson and Doc Rivers couldn’t help but get into a war of words before the series even started, and there was that little hallway confrontation after Game 7. Whatever the over/under is on technical fouls for this game, I’m taking the over.
