There’s no question that the Los Angeles Lakers are in need of some major tweaking if they expect to be back to form anytime soon.

Thankfully for the team and their fans, the star of the show now seems to be young up-and-coming Jordan Clarkson. Alongside him, the return of Julius Randle and one last season from Kobe Bryant could potentially give us one of the most exciting seasons in Lakers history — but it could also come back to bite the franchise in the back if they’re not careful.

Without any sort of reliable depth, Los Angeles won’t have much a chance to compete with the Western Conference night in and night out if the other teams in their respective conference continue to play such dominating basketball.

Teams like San Antonio, Dallas, Houston, and even the rival Clippers will all be looking to only reload their arsenal for next year — a dilemma in your division when you already are going to have the Golden State Warriors to deal with on top of everything.

But fear not, Lakers faithful, Goran Dragic could very well be the answer.

As the go-to man in Phoenix, Dragic was on pace to return the Suns to the postseason. After a fallout between he and the Suns’ front office, Dragic split at the trade deadline and made a splash in Miami where he gelled for a bit but is still unsure if that’s where he wants to stay long term.

That’s where the Lakers come in.

Dragic provides some much-needed backup or starting play if Clarkson or another point guard isn’t having the best night — which happens, nobody’s perfect — and a return to the limelight might be best for both parties because Dragic fared pretty well when it was his way or the highway back in Phoenix.

Other point guards like Rajon Rondo (currently with Dallas) or D’Angelo Russell (draft prospect, Ohio State) in the picture, the good news for Los Angeles is that they’ll have some good choices to make when it comes to running the point in purple and gold.

And that’s all good, especially when you consider the valleys that the team fell to this past season.

Kobe Bryant has been insistent on sticking around for at least one more year with the franchise he’s been with for nearly two decades.

For the better part of an 18-year career, Bryant has always gone out of his way to make it known that he’s nothing but a champion — even if at the end of the season he doesn’t have a ring or a trophy to kiss at the end of the night.

When the sun sets on his incredible and beyond impressive career, his historic resume and his single-handed importance to the city of angels will not be forgotten quietly.

Bottom Line: The Lakers will be locked and loaded heading into 2016

Expect only the best, because no matter which road the Lakers choose to go with, it will be for the better and it will be for a chance at a championship and a return to glory like no other.

It’s about to get crazy — you might want to buckle in for the ride.
