Jose De Leon Is Headed To Tulsa
By Keith Rivas
It was reported today from multiple sources that Jose De Leon will be promoted from the Dodgers’ Single-A affiliate the Rancho Cucamonga Quakes to the Double-A Tulsa Drillers.
De Leon has done well so far with his stint in Rancho, winning his last four appearances including a win against Lake Elsinore on Sunday.
Statistically speaking, De Leon has more than earned the recognition he’s now getting from the NL West leading Dodgers. He’s struck out 58 opposing batters while keeping his opponents’ batting average just above .250 — not bad if you ask anybody trying to make a name for themselves.

This is really good news for the Dodgers because they are going to need some serious pitching depth if they plan on going anywhere this season.
As of right now, the Dodgers do lead the NL West but in a division that hosts the Padres (who got stacked in the off-season) and the Giants (winners of three of the last five World Series), things don’t tend to come easy down the stretch.
Ever.
On top of that, once the Dodgers can shift their focus to the playoffs the goal will be to get over their playoff bug that has most memorably been rooted in having to usually go up against the St. Louis Cardinals — who, of course, are at the top of most expert’s current power rankings.
Yikes. No bueno.
If St. Louis and Los Angeles are to meet in the playoffs again, the determining factor would not just be the depth of the team overall, but the performance of Clayton Kershaw under pressure.
Last season Kershaw’s nerves seemed to just completely unravel as the Dodgers saw another promising run come to pieces in an NLDS disaster.
The Dodgers lost the series to the Cardinals 3-1 and lost two of those games thanks to consistent errors by an otherwise brilliant Kershaw — we’re talking historically brilliant, believe it or not.
Adrian Gonzalez has also been a source of relief for the Dodgers by providing some offense and only time will tell if and when Yasiel Puig will return to full force and become the big man in Los Angeles again.
If the Dodgers can find a way to stay competitive once late September and October comes around, this team is legitimately good enough to hang with anyone in professional baseball — it just comes down to who is mentally tougher in the moment.
Moving forward, Los Angeles hopes that this is a sign of good things to come because without excellent play from every position the Dodgers won’t have a chance to make it out of the National League, let alone win a World Series any time soon.
Bottom Line: Let’s Not Get Ahead Of Ourselves, But Things Are Looking Up
Per SB Nation’s True Blue LA, the reported promotion is still yet to be ultimately confirmed by the Dodgers but once we hear final word from the organization or otherwise we will be sure to update our story — stay tuned here at LA Sports Hub for more as this story develops.
