NFL To LA Update

Being midway through the year, the summer is starting to thaw out the NFL news out of its hibernation. That being said, the NFL to LA news has been going on year round. Just this Wednesday the 10th, an NFL committee meeting took place to discuss the proposals for the big jump for one or possibly two franchises to make the jump back to the City of Angels.

As of now, any certain answers we have heard, come as pure speculation. Until there is an official announcement we cannot be certain which team will make the jump, but alas, there is more good news to sink our teeth into. We all know that building a stadium too fast can be detrimental to not only the stadium itself but also the public approval. We all remember how Levi’s stadium was barely complete by the time of the new season, and it seemed almost a safety hazard to be in.

The good thing about Los Angeles, we are not short of stadiums to play football games in.  Two of the most iconic stadiums in the country are right here in Pasadena and Los Angeles.  The Rose Bowl, the granddaddy of them all, is already home to the UCLA Bruins, and could certainly house an NFL team for the year. In addition, the LA Coliseum, home of the USC Trojans is also available. After all the Dodgers did use the Coliseum temporarily too. Therefore, just in case there are two teams making the jump, they can each have their own temporary home.

These two stadiums are no strangers to NFL games. With the Rose Bowl being home to Super Bowls and,the Raiders previously calling the Coliseum home during their stint in LA.

Could a third venue be in contention?

The big question is through which team? It seems that every person close to the scenario is banking on a different horse in the race. Each team has had their turn in the favorite circle to be in Los Angeles. Stan Kroenke has been in the limelight for a long while, and with the demolition of the old Hollywood park stadium, his stadium took the first step to becoming a reality.

Back in February Jason La Canfora seemed certain that the Raiders where the team coming to LA, now there are rather insane rumors that the Spurs might not be the only Black and Silver team in San Antonio.

The team that I have been keeping a particularly close eye on is the Chargers. The city of San Diego is very desperate to keep their team in San Diego. The vibe that seems to coming there is that the Chargers are very much interested in moving to Los Angeles and that they are just giving the city of San Diego the run around. The Chargers cannot make an announcement too soon or they risk not only alienating their franchise QB, but also the entire city of San Diego before they even get a chance to move. The move has forced city officials to emergency votes; San Diego seems to be pulling out all the stops to keep their team.

In fact, all of these teams have to keep a tight seal on the situation. For now, none of these teams is certain to come. It could be detrimental to be all in on a move then come to find out your staying in the city you so desperately tried leaving.

A husband cannot leave his wife for someone younger, and then expect to be welcomed back when it does not work out. Even when that younger woman is a nearly $2 Billion dollar stadium

For now, Angelinos need to sit back and enjoy the courting. Big shout out to Vincent Bonsignore of the Daily News. He’s been on point with the updates.
