The “City of Angels” will see the U.S. Open in its future.
The anticipation is over and after a careful deliberation, the USGA named three sites for the U.S. Open Wednesday morning—the Country Club in Brookline (2022), the Los Angeles Country Club (2023), and Pinehurst No. 2 (2024). In 2023, The Los Angeles Country Club will host its first major championship.
After the U.S. Open, The Country Club in Brookline, Massachusetts is one of the five founding members clubs of the golf association. Pinehurst No. 2 in North Carolina will host the U.S. Open for a fourth time in 2024 as one of the prominent courses in the U.S. rotation.
Since 1948, Los Angeles has not been represented in the U.S. Open Championships. Ben Hogan, who was born in Stephenville, Texas, won the U.S. Open at the Riviera Country Club in Los Angeles. Club founders Joe Sartori and Ed Tufts officially opened on May 30, 1911.

In 2010, George C. Thomas was the mastermind behind the North Course and, in 1927 he redesigned the course and the club stretches across 325 acres. Tom O’Toole Jr. USGA President said, “It has been restored recently by Gil Hanse and we just think it’s a perfect opportunity to take the U.S. Open back to Los Angeles.”
Not only will everyone love the course, the scenery of the Los Angeles hills and mountains surrounding the Los Angeles Country Club is breathtaking. The Los Angeles Country Club is located in Beverly Hills and the intersections of the 10 and 405 freeways are only a few miles away.
“The course will have generous fairways, and it will be firm and fast. And it will be great to take the U.S. Open to the second-largest city in the country.”
However, people need to be ready for the heavy traffic that this event will cause along with the multiple events that will be happening.

“We’re in for a real treat,” USGA executive director Mike Davis said. “The course will have generous fairways, and it will be firm and fast. And it will be great to take the U.S. Open to the second-largest city in the country.” This course will hopefully be one of the newest gems for the world of golf.
