NLDS 2015: Dodgers, Mets Locked In Bullpen Fiasco

facebooktwitterreddit

The  NLDS 2015 will be under way shortly.

The Houston Astros and Chicago Cubs both took the win in their one game playoff scenarios, as they now will both face off against the top seed in their league of the divisional round.

The second and third seeds will play against one another in the other divisional series.

This is were the Dodgers and Mets will show down in a possibility of a five game series if both teams don’t watch out.

The Dodgers or Mets will only need to win three games out of the possible five games to advance to the NLCS.

For the Dodgers, they will have home field advantage, as they outlasted the Mets towards the end of the season.

Los Angeles ended the season with momentum coming into the playoffs, as the Dodgers swept the Padres in a three-game series.

The Mets on the other hand ended the season on a bad note, winning only one of the last six games they played.

With both teams ending the season on different paths.

Each team no longer has to think or worry about how they’ve played, because both teams have made the playoffs, and a whole new season has started.

This five-game series should be a close, and tight match up for the first round for both teams, as both teams could easily represent the National League in the World Series.

Both teams have excellent starting pitchers, and a bullpen to back them up.

Along with superb defense and strong bats that could lead each team to victory on any given day.

More from LA Sports Hub

The Dodgers main weakness all year long has been the bullpen, with flashes of being a World Series bullpen, and other times the looks of being one of the worst bullpen’s in the National League.

Hopefully, the Dodgers won’t have to depend on the bullpen this series, but more importantly depend on the arms of their aces and the offensive power that lead them to the playoffs.

The Mets also will being looking to depend on their aces, and bats as well, as their bullpen hasn’t been really that great either.

Here’s what I’m not saying, just to be clear.

Neither the Dodgers’ or Mets’ bullpens stink, nor should they not be relied on — just handled with caution.

I’m just bringing up the bullpen issue because both teams may need to go the bullpen if their starting pitchers don’t go the distance, or there comes the need to close the game.

Great news for both bullpen’s is that they both have an astonishing pitching rotation, which could give each bullpen a spark.

The Dodgers got two of the most dominate pitchers in baseball going against the young talented pitchers of the Mets.

The pitching match ups as of right now for each game our as follows:

Game 1  –  Jacob DeGrom vs. Clayton Kershaw

Game 2  –  Noah Syndergaard vs. Zack Greinke

Game 3  –  Matt Harvey vs. Brett Anderson

When looking at both these three headed beast.

If I was sitting in the bullpen, I wouldn’t want to give up a game for them, or mind throwing in relief.

On second thought though, if I was sitting in the bullpen.

I would be getting as much autograph’s as I could!

A great stat to keep in mind is that the Dodgers ended the season with the 12th best ERA in the league, and the Mets bullpen had the 20th best ERA.

Overall, I don’t believe the Dodgers bullpen will give up this series and cost them their season, but I do believe that the Dodgers bullpen will be needed, and used, to close out the Mets.
