LA Clippers Must Win Tonight

The LA Clippers haven’t made much noise lately — that can change tonight with a win at Staples Center.

As it stands right now, anyway, the Clippers really don’t have anything left to lose.

After going 4-0 to start the season, Los Angeles hit a brick wall after a clash with the still-unbeaten Warriors.

Steph Curry got hot right from the get-go and hasn’t looked back, as he’s been able to lead Golden State to a 12-0 record heading into tonight.

This evening’s installment of the rivalry will be featured at none other than the Staples Center.

What’s important to note in that instance is the fact that the Clippers are strong at home — they boast a 5-1 record thus far — and will surely depend on the home crowd to rally behind them.

Golden State has their eyes set on having the best start to a season by any team in professional basketball.

And the LA Clippers are the only team that can do anything about it.

To be the best starting team in NBA history, the Warriors have to get to 16-0.

After their trip to Los Angeles, the defending champs clash with the Chicago Bulls and Denver Nuggets before hosting the Los Angeles Lakers on Nov. 24.

At that point, if the Lakers end up being the ones to break the streak, it’s safe to expect all sorts of havoc to come forth and break loose from Lob City.

It’d be pretty embarrassing for the Lakers to be better than the Clippers at this, too.

Should the Clippers find a way to will themselves to a win, it could be exactly what the doctor ordered for them to save their season early on.

The team has dropped to a lowly 6-4 record, with no consistency on either ends of the floor.

In Phoenix, against a team the Clippers had all the reason in the world to beat, it came down to how stars like Blake Griffin controlled their temper.

And unfortunately, it’s another battle they couldn’t win.

Keeping their cool is half the battle against a team such as the Warriors — for the sheer fact that they can control and change the tempo of the game at any time at a moment’s notice.

It’s a strategy that got Golden State past even the Cleveland Cavaliers in last year’s NBA Finals.

Speaking of the Warriors, Los Angeles is really the only major test it will get for a long while.

After the Lakers game that is scheduled for Tuesday, the only team for a little while that stands much of a chance is the Toronto Raptors.

That is, of course, coming with the assumption that we don’t see a sleeper team like the Charlotte Hornets come out of the wood work and pull of a miracle.

Bottom Line: Lob City must stop spinning in circles.

Nonetheless, more hangs on the outcome of tonight’s game for the near and dear future of the Clippers organization.

And they know it all too well this time.
