The battles against Chicago took flight in the 1980’s and 1990’s and has cooled off quite a bit since.
Michael Jordan‘s prime days were on the rise, and there was nothing that the vintage Lakers could do about it.
It’s been harder to see the games nowadays, though, as they often feature players that resemble broken records or players that have no more grace with father time.
Derrick Rose was supposed to be the next best thing for the Bulls when he was picked up in 2008.
Since then, Rose has not been to Chicago what he was to Memphis in college. During his days with the Tigers, Rose helped lead the team to a berth in the NCAA championship game against the Kansas Jayhawks.
For the whole season up to that game, Rose looked like everything scouts would look for in a first-round draft pick — but at the end, when the pressure was at it’s peak, we started to see the Rose we’d get at the next level.

He missed a clutch free throw towards the end of regulation that would’ve put the game out of reach, but his miss gave then-Jayhawk Mario Chalmers just enough time to drop a miracle three-pointer to send the game to extra time.
And the rest is history.
Overall, Los Angeles leads in the head-to-head series with an 86-60 advantage.
