Los Angeles Rams Interested In Peyton Manning And Johnny Manziel At QB
By Keith Rivas
The Case For Johnny Manziel
Johnny Manziel is on a redemption mission all his own and Los Angeles is the only place in the league where he’d really get a full, fair restart.
With Cleveland, all of Manziel’s immaturity was thrown out on the table and then some.
From domestic issues, violations of team policy, and even straight disrespect to the coaching staff, Manziel never really fit in with the Browns from day one.
Josh McCown was chosen over him — even injured Josh McCown, for crying out loud.

To add fuel to the fire, head coach Mike Pettine never seemed to really have Manziel’s back. If we’re honest, it’s not hard to see that Pettine’s distrust of Manziel in the first place helped him spiral out of control.
The Rams looked heavily into investing in Johnny Manziel when he was drafted in 2014 by Cleveland.
Lots of teams passed on Manziel in that draft, fearing and citing his immaturity as their chief concern — Cleveland chose to pay the early consequences.
Whether or not Johnny Manziel fully matures, though, isn’t up to any of us or a professional football team.
His off the field issues should remain his business for exactly that reason — they are his issues.
Manziel was also never treated as an adult. This lead, as you might imagine, to the childish responses we saw constantly across sports media.
The funny thing about all of this is that teams are ignoring the fact that Manziel thrives in the environment where he’s allowed to fully be himself.
That includes the wild life away from work.
So long as Manziel can keep a distinct line between his football life and his party life or personal choices, there shouldn’t a problem — the Rams should know that better than any team, too.

Lastly, it’s worth the risk for Los Angeles to gamble big on Manziel because they really have nothing to lose.
Should the investment in Manziel go south, the only true loss would be money — something Rams owner Stan Kroenke is familiar with and will make a lot of thanks to the re-location.
Aside from Manziel, they could still invest in either Case Keenum or Nick Foles and, in an absolute worst-case scenario, use either of them in the meantime while looking for a new quarterback.
Manziel’s antics fit within the landscape of Los Angeles, and he’d have no problem making himself at home.
If Los Angeles ignores that, they’re only hurting themselves.
