With Los Angeles losing Rodney McLeod to the Philadelphia Eagles in free agency and moving Mark Barron to linebacker in 2015, the Rams will have a huge hole to fill if TJ McDonald can’t get things together.

Reggie Nelson will be a nice veteran presence for an already young secondary and the whole defense will benefit from this signing.

Nelson was last on the Cincinnati Bengals, played all 16 games and led the entire NFL with 8 interceptions in 2015.

Additionally, since joining the Bengals in 2010, Nelson has recorded 23 interceptions and has missed a total of three games in his tenure there.

Therefore, the Rams will be signing a guy that stays on field, makes plays and help lead the back end of an already good defense.

Also, one can’t forget he will get the opportunity to play with physical corner back Trumaine Johnson.

Both players could benefit from playing with each other and opposing offenses could fear both due to having combined interceptions of 15 in 2015.

This signing can give the Rams an elite player at three levels on defense — Aaron Donald anchors the defensive line, Trumaine Johnson locks down the corner position, and Reggie Nelson could help complete the back end of this defense.
