Closing Thoughts

Above all else, the young core of the team cannot be ignored at this time.

Should the organization select the wrong person for the job, what should be a bright future in Los Angeles could become few and far between.

Both Julius Randle and D’Angelo Russell have shown promise, but it’ll take seasoning that only comes through experience to get them to their peak.

That in mind, and considering the free agent opportunities that Los Angeles could pounce on immediately, Kevin Ollie looks to be the best option for the Lakers at the moment.

Another coach could end up making a stronger case for themselves in the long run, but as it stands right now the man for the job is Ollie — and a lot of that can be credited to his ties with Kevin Durant.

Even though it’s not a guarantee, the Lakers would be better off taking a gamble like that — one which could prove to pay huge dividends — than staying stagnant and stuck with nothing but wishful thinking.
