Despite having ties to UCLA, Russell Westbrook seems less and less of a possibility the closer we get to the free agency period opening up.

It was originally believed that Westbrook could be a central part of the Lakers plans for the future, but earlier this season that fire was quenched.

In response to a reporter directly asking Westbrook about where he might want to play in hopes for some sort of hint, he didn’t mince words in his response.

While it sounds like a great match, Westbrook and the Lakers wouldn’t work anyway, as much as we would like it to.

Westbrook’s point guard style has done wonders for the Thunder when they aren’t able to depend on the dynamic duo of him and Kevin Durant — with the Lakers, his play would have the opposite effect.

Dominance would be the worst enemy of Westbrook, mainly because it would defeat the purpose of the Lakers selecting D’Angelo Russell with the second pick overall in the previous draft.

The goal of that selection was to build around the point guard, not replace him.

With that in mind, it’s best for Russell Westbrook to bloom where he’s planted in Oklahoma City.
