2016 NBA Draft – 2nd Pick

The Lakers have been blessed with luck once again, and they rightfully needed to be after the worst season in franchise history.

With the number two pick in the 2016 NBA Draft, the Los Angeles Lakers select… Ben Simmons from Louisiana State University? Brandon Ingram of Duke University?

Or will Mitch Kupchak and Jim Buss surprise us all and select Dragan Bender of Maccabi Tel-Aviv?

More from LA Sports Hub

Bender has already been dubbed the next Kristaps Porzingis, so never say never.

But let’s predict the Philadelphia 76ers choose Ben Simmons; the clear-cut choice for the Lakers at number two at that point is Brandon Ingram.

During his lone year at Duke, Ingram has shown that he can shoot the three ball, defend the perimeter, and attack the paint. The Lakers desperately need a small forward of Ingram’s caliber and the Lakers would be doing in their due diligence by selecting the Duke Blue Devil.

The NBA is much different from the college level, though, so who knows if Ingram will translate well at the NBA level.

Will newly hired head coach Luke Walton bring the best out of Ingram?

Perhaps the NBA Summer League in Las Vegas will be a good indication.

But before we can get excited for Vegas, lets first wait to see whom the Lakers select in the 2016 NBA Draft.
