Is it time for change for Doc Rivers and the Los Angeles Clippers?

Doc Rivers and the Los Angles Clippers were sent out of the playoffs in the first round by the Portland Trailblazers.

They ended the season 4th in the Western Conference Standings and entered the playoffs with most of their team healthy.

This was an exciting and fun series to watch.

All the critics and fans wanted Los Angeles to advance to play Golden State to see if they could take them down.

Is it time for the to focus on the draft and building for the person to lead the future?

Unfortunately that did not happen because throughout their first and only playoff series, players were injured on basketball plays and freak accidents.

For example, Chris Paul broke his finger by getting it stuck in a jersey attempting to steal the ball.

Griffins injuries reaggravated him and had to sit out.

Then back up point guard Austin Rivers had a monster last game, after receiving stitches in the game because of a collision to the head/face area.

The Clippers did not go down without a fight.

Their bench is decent and proved they can play with Portlands starters, but they just came up short.

Jordan and Redick were the only two starters to finish the last game of the series and stay healthy and they each had a fantastic series.

The next step for Lob City is do they go after anyone in free agency or just focus on keeping who they have and keeping them healthy along with their draft picks?

I say they should resign who they have and keep them healthy, by managing their minutes and keep in mind of their draft picks and who will be available on the board when it is their turn.

In this tweet these are a few good players working out for the team and I can see Malcolm Brogdon or Danuel House fitting into Doc Rivers system, because they both can shoot lights out but are defenders first and foremost which is what the Clippers need.

Also if they Lakers don’t take Daniel Hamilton as I mentioned in a previous article if he enters the draft the lake show should take him; then the Clippers could even be interested in him because his defense is his skill and his shooting can be improved.

Their team is predicated on defense, which leads to their exciting offense.

They already have a few defenders and some shooters.

All teams will want shooters on their teams to make plays and score more points, but if the other team scores more than you how are they going to win.

The Clippers have a mix of shooters and defenders on their team which is balanced and what they need.

Perhaps in this years draft with the 25th and 33rd overall pick, they should draft a player who was a lockdown defender in college.

They should do this because being in the hard fought Western Conference they are going to need  players present and future to lockdown other offensive skilled players on other teams such as, Curry, Thompson, Leonard, Durant, Lillard, Parsons, Randolph, and Harden.

Like when playing the Warriors the opposing team has to be near perfect to beat them.

What if it isn’t about being perfect on offense, but being perfect on defense which is the key to stopping and defeating the Warriors as they proved they are beatable.

Then with stopping them from scoring all they have to do is make sure they can score.

With that lockdown defense that will lead to points on offense and then the team will score more than their opponent and win their game.
