Troubled outfielder Yasiel Puig is rumored to be getting a promotion.

After sending Yasiel Puig to the minor leagues, the fate of the talented star remained uncertain.

Did it mean the end of a career? The end of his time in Los Angeles? Would he be waived or traded?

All of these were fair questions to ask at the time, but now it seems Los Angeles has made a decision.

According to a report from the Los Angeles Times, Puig will be promoted to the lineup over the weekend.

Dodgers president of baseball operations, Andrew Friedman, has an interesting view of the situation.

Per the report:

"“The conversations we had with him at the beginning of August really resonated with him,’’ Andrew Friedman, president of baseball operations, said this week .”I think there’s been a very conscious effort to listen to what was said and apply it to his daily work.”"

The return of Puig comes with a hinted return of Clayton Kershaw at the mound as well.

Given the timing of everything, the team cannot afford to let an anxious, energy-filled Puig kill their momentum.

Los Angeles is currently two games ahead of the San Francisco Giants for first place in the NL West.

Knowing the way the Giants have played all season, the way September unfolds and leads us into October is unpredictable.

Puig held a batting average of .348 in 19 appearances with the Dodgers’ Oklahoma City minor league affiliate.

Holding on to the power he brings to the plate will be key to Los Angeles utilizing his skills moving forward.

If they’re unable to corral his emotions, the end of this season could really be the last straw for Puig with the Dodgers.

Additionally, Puig’s return is not to an empty or illegitimate outfield.

Right now the Dodgers hold the keys to a strong defense, which includes spectacular play from Andrew Toles.

Toles has provided a lift when the team has needed someone to step up; his most recent rescue came in Colorado with a late game grand slam.

Realistically, Puig may not be a factor for the Dodgers in the playoffs.

As much as fans would love to see him change, it’s starting to feel like too many second chances for Puig.

And enough is enough, eventually.

Finally, we have to realize that this is all put squarely on manager Dave Roberts.

Still in his rookie campaign as team manager, Roberts must show he can navigate rough waters if he wants to stay long-term.

But if he does it or not is another story.

Puig has a lot to do with that, at least for now, but moving on from him won’t hurt the team too much.

The Dodgers have been known to struggle in the playoffs.

This could be the season that all of those bad things change, but it won’t come easy.
