A chance to rebrand

Moving to the new market of Los Angeles is a special occurrence.

Los Angeles provides the team with a chance to leave San Diego in the past. Part of that, at least for this franchise, is their nickname.

If the nickname goes, expect the logo, uniforms, and even fan base to change drastically.

This could mean we see them stick with the iconic powder blues as a more permanent jersey or something else entirely.

The reason that this is good for the NFL and for the (still) Chargers is two-fold.

First, it allows the fans in Los Angeles to enjoy the Rams, but love to hate them at the same time. It gives fans that second option that’s available in every other professional league.

Ducks, Kings, Dodgers, Angels, Clippers, and Lakers preceded the two NFL relocation efforts.

Now they’ll have more to enjoy.

Second, it gives the team a chance to not hang onto any tough memories from San Diego. It’s essential they do this eventually, not just keep it in the rumor mill, because with a relocation comes the want for a true fresh start.

There wasn’t a chance the Rams were going to do it, but the Chargers are the perfect fit for that.
