Los Angeles had all the fun it could with the 2017 NHL All-Star game.

The NHL All-Star game was hosted by the Los Angeles Kings organization showcasing the NHL’s best, flecked with reminders of LA and Southern California’s contributions to the game.

It started with the introduction of the NHL’s 100 greatest players on the ice, the loudest cheers reserved for Kings alumnus and Hall of Famers Wayne Gretzky and current Kings President Luc Robitaille.

Kings fans also showed their loyal passion as during the introduction for All-Star players.

Boos rained down on players from their rival teams the San Jose Sharks and Anaheim Ducks.

Of course the loudest cheers were for Kings All-Star representatives, Drew Doughty and Jeff Carter.

In the All-Star format, teams representing each of hockey’s four divisions play three-on-three hockey for two 10 minute periods in a round robin tournament.

The match-ups would be the Pacific Division against Central Division, and the Atlantic Division against the Metropolitan Divison with the winners meeting in a final for $1 million dollars.

In the first game the Pacific Division led by Carter and Doughty torched the Central Division 10-3, with the loudest cheers again reserved for the Kings players.  In the second game the Metropolitan Division would defeat the the Atlantic Division in a more competitive 10-6 game.

In the final the fans were treated to an entertaining finale where the Metropolitan team won 4-3 , and despite the fact that their players lost Kings fans could still find some positives.

The winning team was coached by none other than former Kings great Wayne Gretzky and the MVP of the game was former Kings forward Wayne Simmonds who was constantly cheered by those who remember his time here in LA.

All in all the city of Los Angeles and Kings organization can be satisfied that a great show was put on for the NHL and this weekend showed that LA is certainly is a hockey town.
