USC Trojans women’s basketball team toppled 16th ranked Arizona State.

This victory was a team effort by the USC Trojans, as there was no one player who had a great performance. Instead everyone had a good game.

USC has been struggling all year long and this was a good motivation booster for the team. They are a team who could be a dark horse to make the NCAA March Madness Tournament.

They have all the players who have all the skills, yet they all need to be consistent and win games against top ranked teams. Hence this victory was exactly what they needed.

Four of the five starters were in double figures.

Sadie Edwards was the leading scorer for everyone and the Trojans with 17 points and 5 rebounds. The Trojans bench also was a little productive by producing 7 points.

Earlier I said there was no top performer, yet there was a player whose performance boosted the team to a more secure victory.

Kristen Simon recorded herself a double-double with 11 rebounds and 16 points.

Simon alone outscored the Sun Devils by 4 points. For the most part Arizona State’s bench was shutout by the Trojans. Only two players on the bench scored the opposite of the Trojans bench.

Both teams struggled from downtown, USC made just 4 three-pointers out of 9 attempts. Ironically, each team attempted nine three-pointers and USC was excellent from the charity stripe.

The Trojans attempted less field goals yet made more of their attempted shots. Every teammate passing the ball earning assists helped the team to victory and they had 15 assists.

Although, USC was out rebounded by five rebounds, they did have more blocks with six to one. How did the USC Trojans win with their bench not producing many points?

Well for starters multiple starters were in double figures and Kristen Simon recorded herself a double-double.

Also, don’t be surprised if you see the USC Trojans in the NCAA March Madness tournament as a dark horse.
