At the Rising Stars Challenge 2017, the Lakers were well-represented.

Two players from the Lakers are on their way to getting to the All-Star level. Playing in the Rising Stars Challenge 2017, both D’Angelo Russell and Brandon Ingram played with the best young players in the league.

To give All-Star weekend a head start, the younger stars put on a show. With the world team pinned against the USA team, the United States failed to get a victory. The world team won by a final score of 150-141 thanks to a big night from Jamaal Murray.

Brandon Ingram had just four points in 16 minutes, but D’Angelo Russell shined. In his 18 minutes on the floor, Russell managed to score 12 points. To add to that, Russell also added three rebounds and four assists.

As the Lakers continue to make their way through this season, the real question becomes what they will do before the deadline. Following the conclusion of Friday’s game, the next event for a Lakers player is the three-point contest.

Nick Young was invited to compete with some of the best sharpshooters in the game. The hope is that he’ll be able to hold his own, but there’s always room to grow.

The only thing that may be awkward after the weekend is if Young ends up being traded. He, along with Lou Williams and other veterans on the team, have been rumored to be on the block. Young has transformed his game tremendously, adjusting well from last year’s woes.

A lack of off-the-court drama with teammates has helped the former USC star shine with the purple and gold. At least he’ll have one more week, if nothing else, to show for it.
