Los Angeles Chargers place franchise tag on outside linebacker Melvin Ingram.

Melvin Ingram has been playing with the Chargers for five years. He has been their leader on defense as well.

They have built their defense around him. He has been to the playoffs with Los Angeles and he has suffered through the trials the last few seasons.

Although there has been many trials in the past years, during those trials there has been mini and individual triumphs. They have drafted good players for their team to help lead them to the post-season. Also, everyone can say moving to LA is a triumph and a trial all in one.

Melvin Ingram has been a quality team player for the Los Angeles Chargers. He has been able to stay healthy and put up consistent numbers every season for the team.

For example, last season he had 60 combined tackles, 14 assisted tackles, and 8 sacks. These are quality numbers from a linebacker. He has a quality defensive end in Joey Bosa and when healthy CB Jason Verrett.

The Chargers’ defense is good. However for them to be great they need to acquire a few more free agents to help them reach the post-season. They should have a great chance of making it as defense wins championships and their head coach is defense minded first.

All they need is their offense to take them there. It is possible with the new coaching staff they have in Los Angeles. LA hasn’t made the playoff in four years, but they can compete with anyone.

That is how talented their offense is when healthy and in sync. Their offensive coordinator has made it to the Super Bowl before. They just need their entire offense to stay healthy the whole year and perform consistently every week.

They will have to also build through the draft if they can’t acquire any free agents.
